Let’s be real: We want to read Scripture but don’t know where to start. Or maybe we do, but we don’t always have time to fit a formal Bible study into our week. The Word of God should be at the center of our routine, yet, sadly, it can often get bumped to the bottom of our priority list.
“A Quick Word” is an invitation to un-complicate your relationship with Scripture — and to jump back into it whenever you find yourself with a brief opening in your schedule to relax, reflect, and pray. Sometimes it only takes a minute to hear the Lord’s voice.
A match is something small that creates urgency in time and space. It is small but not insignificant — offering light or warmth or total consumption. That’s how it is with God’s Word. The Good News is meant both to fill and consume us. And we are meant to know Christ personally.

Who Needs It
Youth ministries, Bible study groups, families, friends, or individuals (recommended for ages 10 and up) who desire to strengthen their relationship with Christ through prayer, Scripture study, personal reflection, and an active response to Christ’s call to discipleship
Using This Book
The 20 minute (or micro) studies can be used in a variety of ways. You can flip to one in the midst of a crazy-busy home or in the quiet line for Confession, in a boring waiting room or a loud coffee shop, and just about anywhere in between. You can use them in any order, on your own, with a partner, with a small group of friends, or as a discussion starter with people from church or school or work. Each one includes:
- A reminder of who Jesus is to you
- A brief Gospel passage to look up and meditate on
- A reflection to help you take away something concrete from the reading
- A prayer to accompany this message
- Three to four questions for self-reflection, journaling, and/or group discussion
